Captain Chuck Harman

Captain Harman is the author and illustrator of the childrenís book series, The adventures of Artie the Airplane and his friends.When he isnít busy teaching and evaluating the pilots of American Airlines, Captain Chuck, as the kids know him, keeps busy visiting with schoolchildren around the country sharing Artie the Airplane and his love of planes and flying with them.

Captain Chuck has appeared in numerous newspapers, on radio shows such as Radio Disney, local and national television shows and was recently named a Chevy Trucks Lone Star Hero for his contributions to the community.

Captain Chuck Harman is currently Flying the Boeing 777.Prior to this assignment Captain Chuck served the pilots of American Airlines as a Check Airman on the Boeing 737 and worked as a Flight Test Pilot.   Prior to that, Captain Chuck worked for American in their Technical Flight Operations Department. Captain Harman was the Fleet Captain for the Boeing 757 and 767, Flight Operations Deicing Manager, Fleet Captain and Technical Program Manager for the Boeing 737 and Lead Check Airman on the Boeing 757 and 767.In his over thirty year airline career he has flown Boeing 727ís, 737ís, 747ís, 757ís, 767ís, 777ís and the Bae 146.Besides his Airline Transport Pilot certificate, Captain Harman also holds airman certificates for Air Traffic Controller, Aircraft Dispatcher, Flight Instructor, Ground Instructor and Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic and has over 21,000 flying hours.††††

Prior to American Airlines, Captain Harman worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as both an Air Traffic Controller at the Oakland Center and as an Aviation Safety Inspector responsible for Accident and Incident investigations, Regulatory Enforcement and Airman Certification.

Captain Harman has consulted on aircraft accidents and provided expert witness testimony, authored an aviation training website and has been invited to speak at a variety of different aviation and childrenís education forums.

Captain Harman is a United States Navy Veteran and proudly served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.
